From our Guides - December 2017
This promises to be an exciting festive season at Azura Selous with numerous game sightings, beautiful sunny days and the bush flourishing from the recent rains.
We continue to see the abundance of life across the plains of the Selous, and particularly not far off from the Azura camp. The Azura waterholes are now brimming with fresh water and a hippo has already decided to take up occupancy and spend the festive season in one of the larger waterholes.
Our full day game drives have guests delighted with fantastic game sightings not only of the elephant breeding herd of 12 but the stars of the Selous, the wild dogs, which have been spending their days near our airstrip, five minutes away from camp.
In addition to general game sightings, the little Serengeti pride - a pride of eight lions, have been spotted only 10km from the Azura camp. They were given their name due to the area they frequent known as the Little Serengeti, located not far from the Azura camp and one of the highlights on our full day game drives.
The Azura pride, have regained their ground and are again sighted close to camp. The magnificent sight of the pride lounging by the river, set against the authentic wildness of the Selous is a magnificent one to enjoy.
